How To Stay Sane

The title of this post might make you chuckle because it sounds hilarious but also makes you think about just how true it is! Life can get crazy and there are definitely ways to help you avoid pulling your hair out. Here are a few that come to mind:

Smile and Be Kind to Others

This seems like it might have the opposite effect but the next time someone is rude to you, just smile and kill them with kindness. This will make you feel better about the whole situation, maybe not in the moment but certainly after it’s over. Go ahead and try it!

Take At Least 15 Minutes For Yourself

It seems that most people will say they just don’t have time for themselves but the truth is, they just need to make time. Giving yourself some much-needed “me time” is imperative to staying sane. Take a bath, enjoy a cup of tea, read a book, meditate, exercise, or pick up on your favorite hobby. You deserve it!

Give Yourself a Laugh

Listen to your favorite comedian or pull up your favorite cat videos on YouTube. A laugh can go a long way towards keeping your mind together and preparing you for what’s ahead.

Treat Yourself

Whether it’s grabbing your favorite coffee or simply sitting out on your patio before work, treating yourself to life’s little pleasures can really give you that boost you need to get through the day.

Write It Down

Having trouble falling asleep because your mind is racing? Keeping a pad of paper by your bed will help you get rid of all those reminders and to-do’s that are keeping you awake. Worried about something that happened earlier in the day? Start a journal and get it off your chest! Getting things off your mind will help you get a better night’s sleep and prepare you to face new challenges.

Vent

It’s important that you have someone to help you talk through issues and scenarios. This could be a close family member or friend or even your favorite chat forum. In most cases, they won’t even need to offer you a solution – just having someone hear you is all you’ll likely need.

I hope you find what keeps you sane! If there is something you do to keep yourself sane, please let me know in the comments.

Have a wonderful day!
