One of my absolute favorite side dishes is crispy roasted potatoes, but they can be time consuming to make to the perfect crispiness. The best roasted potatoes have a deliciously balanced salty flavor, crispy skin, and soft center. To make them, I would usually blanch the potatoes and roast them in the oven, which would take over an hour. I knew there had to be an easier way and I finally found it with the help of a hot air fryer. This little machine is a miracle worker and you can get one for a relatively low price. Trust me, it’s SO worth it to have one in your kitchen.
This potato recipe can be used for a number of different delicious meals. Cut the potatoes into wedges and serve them alongside baked chicken breast and steamed broccoli for a healthy dinner. Cut the potatoes into small cubes and serve them as home fries with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon for a delicious breakfast. The possibilities are endless!
Crazy Easy Air Fried Crispy Potatoes
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes
- 2 lbs Gold Potatoes
- 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Preheat air fryer to 390 degrees F (199 degrees C).
- Wash the potatoes and pat dry. Leaving the skin on, cut potatoes into roughly equal sized wedges or cubes (this depends on your size preference).
- Place potatoes in a medium bowl and toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Once air fryer is preheated, place potatoes in basket and let cook for 10 minutes.
- Shake the potatoes in the basket and let cook another 10 minutes. Place potatoes on a paper towel lined plate and season with a dash more salt to taste. Serve as a side or by themselves and enjoy!
Note: If you prefer extra crispy potatoes, after the second round of cooking, shake the potatoes and cook for an additional 7 minutes.
Tips on Air-Frying
There are a number of different air fryers to choose from. They range in size, so it’s important to get the right fit for your family. A family of 2 may only need a 3-4 quart fryer but a family of 4 or more will need a 5-6 quart fryer. Also, if you plan on cooking larger items like a whole chicken or hen, opt for the 5-6 quart, or larger, size.

Always preheat your air fryer before cooking, unless the recipe states otherwise. This will ensure even cooking and deliciously crisp food.
To achieve a perfectly crispy skin or crispy fried coating, toss the food in olive oil before frying. If what you’re cooking is delicate, or you need minimal oil, use olive oil spray instead.
