Losing weight can be difficult for anybody at any point in their life. The key to losing weight is not just eating right and exercising, there are a lot of factors that go into losing weight and keeping it off.
Don’t Expect Instant Results
Most people that set a goal to lose weight expect that they should see results within the first month. More than likely, a person looking to lose weight will see little results until after the first 6 months. Depending on your situation, you may lose weight at first and then gain it back. Don’t get discouraged! This is just your body changing before you start seeing results. If you are losing weight, expect to only lose a maximum of 2 pounds a week on average.
Expect To Gain Weight
Yes, you will gain weight. If you are picking up an exercise routine, you may gain some muscle mass pretty quickly. Muscle weighs more than fat so as you lose fat and gain muscle, you’re bound to weigh more. If you see the scale tipping in the wrong direction, don’t be alarmed. This is a totally normal process of losing weight correctly and permanently.
Don’t Expect Your Body To Look Different Right Away
You’ve been working out and eating right so why hasn’t your body changed yet? As you gain muscle, your metabolism will speed up and burn more fat. But until then, fat may not shrink very quickly which means your body will likely look the same for the first few months (at least).
Don’t Go Extreme
When starting to eat right and exercise, take it slow. If you push yourself too hard to begin with, you will likely burn yourself out and quit within the first 3 months. Start by making some healthy eating choices like the ones listed here and begin an exercise routine that’s right for your current level of activity. Always talk to a doctor before starting any new exercise routine.
Make The First Step
Just making the first step can help you get motivated to continue towards your goal. Wait At Least 6 Months Before You Expect To See Any Change
If you see a change before that, awesome! But most likely, you won’t start seeing any real change in your body until after 6 months of consistent exercising and eating right. It’s important to remember this so you don’t give up.
The First 2-3 Months Will Be The Hardest
The first challenges you’ll face are breaking your old habits. During this time, you’ll crave bad foods so badly that it will take all your will power not to give in. You’ll really have to push yourself to go exercise because you’ll likely be experiencing some soreness from using your muscles in new and different ways. Once you’ve overcome the initial difficulties of changing your routine, you’ll get into a groove and not have to push so hard to keep going.

Don’t forget, the real point of making a lifestyle change should be to become healthier.
